The original oil painting, 30 x 40 entitled Baile ár Shinsear (our ancestral home) was painted by Eryn Tehan in January 2023.
A warm fall air kisses the coastal shore at Baile Choitín. The Celtic Sea laps gently at the outcrops below. Its waters are gentle, warm, and welcoming. The sea is a jewel of the clearest green and turquoise. Its shore is speckled by emerald, magenta, and cobalt stones in every shade, mixed with sparkling quartz. Being in this place is breathtaking and humbling. Walking the trail and footsteps of my ancestors is immeasurable. Their footsteps. My footsteps. Toes in the sand,
their toes. Laughter in the air, their laughter, Cold stone in my hand. Their hand. A place more than a place of beauty. A place of deep meaning.
